Radiology Professional Dr. Gail Weingast Earned Her Position

May 07, 2016
Beginning in 1969, Gail Weingast attended Jackson College, Tufts University, in Medford, Massachusetts, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish, so she didn’t always know she was going to be a doctor. However, sometime later, she did attend the Boston University School of Medicine, where she became Gail Weingast MD in 1976.

Following medical school, Dr. Weingast did a pediatrics internship from 1976-1977 at Colorado General Hospital in Denver, then completed a residency in pediatrics over the next two years, after which she also completed a residency in the field of radiology from 1980 to 1983 and a fellowship in the field of ultrasound in 1983. Dr. Weingast completed her post-graduate studies as a radiologist from 1983 to 1984 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, also in Denver.

Soon after that, Dr. Gail Weingast worked at several other hospitals, mostly in Colorado, but also in New York, until she settled into her current position where she has been for more than 20 years and where she has been able to guide her department into its current position as a premiere medical facility with her more than four decades of knowledge and experience.

These days, Dr. Gail Weingast is best known as a highly regarded radiology specialist at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut, where she is the Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging. However, while her path to her current important position wasn't always a straight line, she values every aspect of her educational and career journey because it has all contributed to make her the fine doctor she is today.
